Esther asked how much room the software takes...

FamilySearch Indexing takes up about 20-30 MBs.

There have been a lot of questions about indexing, and I doubt that all can be addressed in the mailing list. If you want to learn more you can visit http://www.familysearchindexing.org and click the "Help" tab at the top of the screen. These tutorials will explain a lot about the program in general. Specific instructions will be made available when your pilot project begins. I would recommend that everyone go through lessons 1, 3 & 4 to get a basic understanding of how the program works.

On a side note. You can index offline...you will download the images (as has been mentioned) to your computer, then you can choose to work offline. This is great for those of us that commute to work, or travel (fly, etc) because we can work while offline, then when we connect our computers back up to the internet we can submit the work we've done. All this is explained in the tutorials.

Translation Request: Census Indexing Project in Cooperation...

Yes I'd encourage everyone to get involved in the indexing project
currently available at http://www.familysearchindexing.org

I have a request from some of the more fluent members of the group (not
me). Can someone volunteer to take Arturo's initial message and
translate it into Spanish so that everyone in the group will have a
clear understanding of what we're encouraging everyone to do?

joseph

ps: In the past we've gotten into various discussion and some have led
to topics delving into spiritual matters. With regards to whether or not
we get communication from our relatives I wanted to share a brief
account of what happened yesterday. I went in and registered and jumped
into a page for the 1930 Aguascalientes Census and I know about looking
at Census records and rarely do I find records with my surname in them.
Now I know "Puentes" is not rare but it really isn't very common and I
was kind of shocked when toward the bottom of the only page I have
opened and attempted on this Census project there was a Macario Puentes
(I really couldn't make out his first name but it looked like Macario).
I don't recognize this name and for all I know he is not related but I
though it was very interesting AND encouraging. I also took notice that
I needed to pay attention because you never know what doors might open
for your own personal genealogy if you work hard to help others with
their genealogy. I want to be part of a Nuestros Ranchos team that is
one day remembered many generations from now as playing an important
part in helping many advance their genealogical research.
